Ghana and the US have many things in common. A large portion of the gene pool of the US can be traced to the ancestors of present day Ghanaians. Indeed, the US First Lady, Michelle Obama, believes that her ancestors originated from Ghana. Both Ghana and the US sport the Eagle on their coat of arms – a symbol of strength, determination, pride and independence. Tomorrow, the two eagles with beaks and claws sharpened will do battle on a football pitch in Mandela land.
